We ran a small SumoBot clinic for some elementary kids. In Silicon Valley style it was out of our garage. In the course of two hours they assembled their robots, which included some soldering. The pizza and other fun distractions limited the amount of hands on programming time. We did get all the Arduino software installed on all their laptops along with the necessary ZumoBot libraries. After some explanation of the changes that can be programmed into the bot, the kids had a good ole fashion robot rumble. With the remaining time we explained the other programs available to download to the bot like line following and collision detection. The best part was at the end of the clinic hearing one girls tell her mother she wanted a play date with her friend to tweak the robots.
